Curatorial driven program
Collaborations dedicated art spaceARSMONITOR's projects and exhibitions represent the direct expression of its collaborators and the strong dialogues between the gallery’s founding curator and every artist or group of artists, arriving at a fresh perspective in the local landscape of art galleries.
ARSMONITOR is a privately initiated venture established by Mia Munteanu, an entrepreneur in the creative industry, and Silviu Padurariu, an independent curator. Since its inception in 2020, ARSMONITOR has evolved from a virtual art gallery into a physical space located in The House of the Free Press, Bucharest, since 2023.
Combining entrepreneurial expertise with a cultural mission, ARSMONITOR offers a curated program and a collaborative platform for several renowned Romanian artists. Its goal is to invigorate the emerging art market and engage art collectors, fostering a dynamic environment for artistic collaboration and exhibitions.
ARSMONITOR operates through collaboration and curatorial research between the gallery’s co-founder, Silviu Pădurariu, and a host of emerging and established contemporary artists in Romania. Pădurariu’s studies began in Art History and Theory at the National University of the Arts in Bucharest, and the gallery’s curatorial program aims at drawing attention to and appraising a point of departure, shift, or evolution in artists’ careers. At the same time, the gallery’s co-founder Mia Munteanu, with an entrepreneurial background also aims to push the boundaries of contemporary art toward new demographics and alternative relationships between the art world, other industries, and other communities interested in creative, visual culture.
The curatorial program’s mission is to bring new ideas from contemporary visual studies to professional and amateur audiences, to establish an informal, open dialogue with a series of artists whose work addresses the problem of the iconic. ARSMONITOR Gallery dedicates its focus to the discourse and context of new subjects related to defining and serializing Romanian contemporary art in a critical and cultural dialogue with global theoretical and curatorial themes.
