Biography

She graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest in 1983, in the class of Prof. Paul Vasilescu. In 1984, she received the Creation Scholarship from the Union of Visual Artists of Romania. From the beginning, she has been focused on capturing a state of mind, a spiritual universe, in an archetypal form.

She debuted in 1991 at the Caminul Artei Gallery with the exhibition "The Body - Temple of the Holy Spirit," where she attempted to create her first installations using bronze and textile materials. This was followed by solo exhibitions in which the classic material of sculpture was increasingly replaced by textile, and especially vegetal materials. These exhibitions include "Zestrea" in 1997 and "Cod 50" in 2005, both at Caminul Artei. Until 2015, she exhibited together with sculptor Marian Zidaru in numerous projects: "Semnul" in 1998 at the Parliament Hall, "Focul" in 1999 at MNAR – Cretulescu Wing, "Scara Ingerilor" in 2000 at ICR – NY and Gallery 49, "Glorie" in 2011 at Ateneo Veneto in Venice, "Atelier am Eck" in 2011 in Düsseldorf, and "Ingeri Tronuri, Voievozi" in 2014 at Mogosoaia Palace.

She has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions: "Let's Take a Look" – Insertion in Contemporary Art at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in 2010 with Senta Connert, Ulrike Kessel, and Julia van Koolvijk, "Beyond Lines" – Art Cub in 2016, "Bucharest Nach" at Ludwig Forum in Aachen in 1997, "Mitologie Soggettive" at Rocca Paolina in 2009 in Perugia, and "100 Romania, Sculptures, Days" at Cantacuzino Palace in Busteni in 2018.

Since 2016, she has begun a period of solo exhibitions focused on creating spaces where the works form a single installation with a specific theme, branching into multiple references and meanings. The final expression is achieved by engaging all five senses, with the presence of plant scents being the innovative element that separates the concrete object from the virtual one. This practice of installations incorporating scent is increasingly present and recognized in the European art scene as olfactory sculpture:

"Zis si Cusut" at H’Art Appendix in 2016, "Florilegiu" at Tipografia Gallery in 2016, "Hortus Deliciarum" at Five Plus Art Gallery in Vienna in 2017, "In Fire" at MTR in 2017, "Hortus Deliciarum 2" at Sala Foaier, MTR in 2018, Huntenkunst - 26th edition in ULFT, Netherlands in 2018, "Three Notes of Paradise" at Five Plus Arts in Vienna, "BAROK Urban" at the Timisoara Art Museum in 2018, "Hortus Deliciarum 3" at ICR in Venice in 2019, "Felix Anima" at Venice-Venice – Palazzo Ca Da Mosto in Venice in 2022.

She works in her personal studio at the Combinatul Fondului Plastic in Bucharest, as well as in her personal studio at the residential center built in Bucovina, in the village of Liteni – Moara – Suceava. She conducts curatorial and cultural management activities through the Cultural Association "Ferma de Arta."
