New Artifacts: Florina Drăguș, Saint Machine, Radu Pandele & Beniamin Popescu
"New Artifacts" presents the outcome of the latest curatorial collaborations by Arsmonitor Gallery with three new artists, Florina Drăguș (b. 1991), Saint Machine (b. 1979), and Beniamin Popescu (b. 1989), as well as the continuation of its partnership with Radu Pandele (b. 1993), an artist showcased since the gallery's inaugural exhibition.
The exhibition "New Artifacts" invites a meditation on the prehistoric and contemporary dimensions of the phenomenon of technicity, in its broadest sense, as a defining element of the human horizon. The project’s central theme revisits the ancient concept of technē, which transcends mere technique and craftsmanship to encompass the notions of innovation and knowledge. The exploration ranges from primitive forms of creative expression with spiritual purposes, through the traditional art of antiquity shaped by aesthetic and ethical ideals, to the latest technological innovations, including artificial intelligence. All share a common anthropotechnical dimension, fundamental to human manifestation and evolution.
"New Artifacts" offers a series of metaphorical objects and interventions, inviting us to poetically reflect on the traces left by human evolution on nature.
