RADU PANDELE: TIGERTIGER
The exhibition TIGERTIGER offers an analysis of key moments in the artistic journey of Radu Pandele, showcasing some of his most representative works from recent years to the present. The selection highlights the originality of the visual language he has refined since the beginning of his career and his unique place on the map of contemporary painting post-2020-both thematically and in terms of the techniques he explores. Behind subjects often inspired by personal experiences lie technical approaches through which painting enters into a radical dialogue with new image technologies found in computer programs, such as computer graphics and 3D modeling, as well as with other methods drawn from street art and tattoo art.
The irony and playfulness behind the title "TIGERTIGER" reveal a characteristic dimension of Radu Pandele's generation-one that questions the elitist solemnity of "high art" and the traditional canon of painting through the lens of contemporary subjectivity. The wordplay in "TIGERTIGER" signals both a departure from the past and a search for new forms of survival within a cultural and social space reshaped by new ideologies and technologies-ones that depict a vision of the world vastly different from that of the last century.
