Common Body Press Release in Observator Cultural

Magdalena and Bogdan Pelmuș are exhibiting "Common Body" at Arsmonitor

Magdalena and Bogdan Pelmuș, one of the most significant artist couples in Bucharest, are presenting "Corp Comun" at Arsmonitor. The curatorial program of Arsmonitor art gallery continues with a new duo show dedicated to the artist couple Magdalena and Bogdan Pelmuș. The exhibition "Corp Comun" will open on April 25 and will be accessible to the public until June 6.

"Corp Comun" is the third exhibition of the year in Arsmonitor's program, following a solo show featuring the analog photographs of artist Răzvan Neagoe and the premiere presentation of paintings by Ioana Gorzo and Dumitru Gorzo, which attracted over 700 visitors on the opening night.

Magdalena and Bogdan Pelmuș are among the artists emerging after 2000 who have developed a series of collaborative and organizational artistic practices, engaging with new themes and media, from performance, installation, and ready-made to the internet, happenings, and video. Their work represents a significant contribution to the Romanian contemporary art scene over the past 20 years, distinguishing themselves as an emblematic duo in navigating the artistic space of the post-communist era, marked by ongoing transition. They have explored a range of initiatives and actions that question the major social, technological, and political shifts since 2000 and the effects of globalization in the Eastern Bloc. Since 2001, they have created various forms of artistic self-organization and autonomy, including artist groups, artist-run spaces, and diverse collective projects such as Sursa Group, Glocal History, Loading Open Lab, and Hybrid Manifestation. Alongside their careers as an artistic duo, they have also continued their individual projects and exhibitions.
