Igloo: "I chose to participate in strengthening the relationship between artists and collectors." A dialogue with Silviu Pădurariu, co-founder of Arsmonitor Gallery

Interview with Silviu Pădurariu about the opening of the gallery
Diana Badea, IGLOO, November 9, 2023

With the opening of the Arsmonitor gallery, we had the pleasure of meeting with Diana Badea from Igloo for an in-depth interview in which Silviu Pădurariu, the gallery's co-founder and curator, detailed the story of this project. Here, you will learn almost everything about how the construction site was managed, how we built the gallery, our vision, the artists we work with, and how we develop the curatorial program.

"ArsMonitor-the newest art gallery in the cultural landscape of Bucharest, located in the Casa Presei Libere building-is a start-up dedicated to art and transformation, but, above all, to fostering dialogue between artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts. Co-founders Mia Munteanu (entrepreneur) and Silviu Pădurariu (curator) are fully committed to this mission. The inaugural exhibition, "Abziehbild. Unapplied Arts," which has just concluded, brought together 10 artists representative of the last three decades of Romanian contemporary art and three distinct cultural spaces in Romania. On November 16, a second event will follow, dedicated to artists Sorin Neamțu and Radu Comșa, with an exhibition-dialogue already titled "Rubin's Vase. Neamțu/Comșa."

In the extensive dialogue with Silviu Pădurariu, co-founder and curator of ArsMonitor Gallery, we explore the gallery's vision and goals, the power of private initiatives to breathe new life into historically rich-and sometimes haunted-spaces, how over 200 square meters of space were (re)imagined while preserving as much of the building's architectural identity as possible, upcoming projects, and much more."
