E-zeppelin: When the gallerists create the space

Interview with the co-founders of Arsmonitor
Cătălina Frâncu, e-zeppelin.ro, August 8, 2024

We had the pleasure of being visited by Catalina Francu from Zeppelin architecture magazine, who interviewed the founders of Arsmonitor Gallery. It was an extraordinary conversation about the stages we went through to open the gallery. We are grateful that our gallery has been noticed and appreciated by a team of architecture journalists with very high standards regarding finishes, design, and space architecture. We hope we did well. Continue reading the introduction.

"Although their debut may seem bold, with only six exhibitions under their belt and nearly 700 people attending the "Doi Gorzo" opening, both Mia and Silviu caution against the deceptive slide into expecting a consistently upward trajectory. "You have to work continuously-success depends on many factors and can be measured in various ways," they agree. "What you see at openings is just the tip of a tower that's built little by little, day by day."

To reach the opening, Mia sent me a video map that guided me from the left side of the central building of Casa Scânteii, through the door behind the passageway, up the stairs towards a fencing hall and a folklore event space, always following the AM arrow that directed me through the labyrinth. Here, in the former Casa Scânteii, now the Casa Presei Libere, the old journalist offices where smoking was rampant are still preserved. Mia and Silviu chose one of the rental spaces offered by CORESI, overrun by pigeons and layered with the remnants of each previous occupant. They stripped it down to the bare walls and only then began to clearly envision the new space."
